and there is me …

Picture 023 Hi my name is Susan Longman… I am an avid scrapper and love a good challenge. I am fortunate to have 2 beautiful children a boy, Ashton and a girl, Eve. Whilst I have never struggled with creating feminine pages early on in my hobby I did have difficulty creating masculine ones. So when I discovered this blog I was thrilled with the help it gave me….
I am honoured to be guardian of this extremely inspiring blog…founded by Sharryn Thomson the blog has evolved into a challenge blog for all you boy scrappers out there that need that little extra inspiration to get those boy pages done.
So I hope that you find this blog as inspirational as I did…

she is back to inspire us…

kerryn Hi everyone, welcome back to Scrap the Boys!!

My name is Kerryn Fry and I live in Adelaide with my 2 beautiful boys, my partner of 15 years Shane and my gorgeous 6 year old son, Harrison. I started scrapping nearly 6 years ago and really couldn't imagine my life without it.

I originally started scrapping a memory album for my princess Bethany who was born still in 2001. A tough journey for me but very therapeutic. In 2007 I joined my first forum and first contest, the rest is history.

I love using techniques when I scrap, my pages are usually full and will generally have some dimension to them.

I am a self-confessed chipboard junkie, but a girl can NEVER have enough can they? and I love to ink.

Basically I just love to get messy!

It is awesome to see this fabulous challenge site up and going again and I am thrilled to be a part of the Scrap the Boys team.

I am really looking forward to tackling the challenges and can't wait to see everyone's work.

I am over the moon that Kerryn has agreed to come back to the Scrap the Boys team. Kerryn has been on the team since I took it over and continually brings inspiring layouts to the challenges. Her style is unmistakable and you are going to love her interpretation of the challenges we have for you over the coming months…if you are wanting a preview of the kind of work Kerryn does check out her BLOG here

another brilliant “boy” scrapper…

Anthea2Hi everyone, I'm Anthea Peterson and I am a mum to 3 happy and energetic boys Josh, 8, Wesley, 5 and Zach, 3. I have been with my very understanding and supportive partner Shane for over 10 years now, he is currently serving in the Royal Australian Navy and I couldn't be prouder. We Live on the South Coast of NSW and it is gorgeous!!
I have been scrapbooking for about 7 years now and love it more and more every day. I am very fortunate to have been published in all of the Australian Magazines and to have had a lot of fabulous and exciting opportunities come my way since I started. Unfortunately my oldest is becoming sick of the camera in his face so I mainly scrap the 2 younger boys, because of this it means the photos I do get of Josh mean a lot more to me. I love that I can personalise the boys albums, add dates, journaling and pretty little things too.
I don't know how I would describe my style, sometimes its full of papers and layering and others its more simple, I do agree on one thing though, I love to work with nice bright products, ink the edge's of everything and I'm not afraid of putting a flower on a boys page =)
If your interested in checking out more of my work then you can find it on my blog here http://www.our-life-story.blogspot.com… I am very excited to be apart of this team =)

Anthea is one of the most amazing “boy” scrappers and I love her bright layouts…you are in for some very inspiring pages over the coming months…and I am thrilled she has agreed to join our fabulous team…want to check out her work…pop over to her blog.

more talent to inspire you…

annemarie2 My name is Anne-Marie Cox and I live in Perth, WA... I have also just realised I am 38 and a half. ;) I am married to Aaron, my childhood sweetheart and we have 5 little darlings; Brad 18, Callie 8, Dylan (who IS a girl but likes to dress like a bogan boy!) 5 and our darling boys Austin and Albert almost 15 months already. I am a SAHM but hope to finish my Bachelor of Business one day before I reach retirement age.

I have always loved paper and pens, I have always been a collector of ephemera and I have always kept some sort of diary or journal.  So I think I have always been a scrapper of some description. Actually, for a long time I thought I invented it! ;)  I was introduced to “scrapbooking” through Creative Memories about 5 years ago... but then found magazines and online forums and challenge blogs so I would say I started scrapping, as I know it now, about 4ish years ago.

My initial interest in scrapbooking was to record family history for my children but now I also scrap for me, for the fun of it and for the creative outlet. I have no idea what "my style" is and I like it that way.  My taste in scrapping is much like my taste is music, a little bit of everything, so perhaps you could call me “eclectic”.  I do like to include embellishments on my LOs that are relevant or symbolic to the story and I try to always include journaling on my pages.

Scrapbooking has also introduced me to many wonderful friendships. I have found so much inspiration, support and motivation from my fellow scrappers and I am so glad I finally found “my thing” in scrapbooking.

I was named a Scrapbooking Memories Master in 2008, I am currently teaching and doing DT work for Tomorrow’s Memories in Bassendean, WA and I have just started on the Twiddleybitz Design Team. I am absolutely thrilled to be involved with Scrap the Boys (having three of my own!) and I can’t wait to see what amazing creations everyone comes up with…  bring on the first challenge! ;)

I have followed Anne-Maries scrapping for a very long time and am still amazed she has time with all those children…I am thrilled that she is joining our team as I love her style and she is sure to inspire you too …pop over to her BLOG and check out the type of work you may see soon.

another team member is back …

kellweb
Hello to all you scrappy peoples, My name is Kellie Lusted (AKA Kell) and I am very excited that STB’s is BACK!  I live in a sleepy little mining town on the West Coast of Tasmania called Zeehan where it rains or snows most of the time!  Along with my 2 fantastic kids Bailey and Ashlee and of course my darling Husband Andrew.  I have been a scrapper now for over 6 years and still enjoy the hobby immensely.  I would describe my style as... changing but still me!  I LOVE challenges to get the creative juices flowing, makes me think outside the square. I tend to lean towards Kraft as my stable building block and build from there, but in saying that I have started liking using patterned paper backgrounds too.  You will always see some sort of inking on my pages and freehand doodles around alphas or papers.  I look forward to seeing everyone’s creations and getting new ideas for my boy pages!  I am excited being part of the team for the revamped “STB’s” .
As you may or may not know Kell is another special person in my life…she and I have been friends for over 17 years now and for that alone she needs a medal…so I am stoked that she has agreed to be back on Scrap the Boys with me (not that she really had a choice…lol) if you don’t know her style and want to see the fabulous work she does pop over to her BLOG where she checks for tumbleweed… you are in for a treat!

Georgia joins “the boys”…

goergia1

Hi everyone, I am so happy to see Scrap the Boys back and to be part of this awesome team!  My name is Georgia Keays and I live in Perth with my husband of 10 years Bill and our three kids, Lucy, Eliza and my little man Archie.
I started scrapping in January of 2008 and was very hooked very quickly.  I really enjoy having a creative outlet and a bit of time to myself – to make up for my husband’s golf! – as well as the fabulous friendships I have made and of course preserving the memories of my little family.
I’d describe my style as very clean with a focus on design.  My pages tend to have a lot of white space, stitching and my latest obsession - fabric.  I use a massive amount of cardstock because I don’t seem to be able to put anything on a layout unless it is matted!
I’m am so looking forward to being inspired by you all.

Another fabulous “boy” scrapper joining our team…Georgia is a 2009 scrapbooking memories master and has a fabulously clean style…I am really looking forward to seeing what she has in mind for the challenges in the coming months… if you are curious to see her work before the first reveal pop over to her BLOG for a look see…

Ebony4x6 Hi my name is Ebony van der Starre and I live in Warrnambool Victoria. i am married to a very understanding man, Steve and we have two gorgeous kids Will who is 6 and Maya who is 3 (going on 16!).

I have been scrapping now for about 8 years and love everything about it!!! I am so blessed to have made so many wonderful friends through this craft and have been given so many wonderful opportunities. I don't really know how to describe my style except that I love to layer incorporating different textures and I love using bright and funky colours usually. My children are more often than not my subjects and inspiration!

I am lucky to be involved with various design teams including Bella Blvd, Storyboard kits, Scrapability sketches, Scrapapple, Paula's scrapbooking Place and The Imagination Factory in Ballarat. I am also a 2009 Scrapbooking Memories Master. I am thrilled to be apart of this team as well! My blog is www.welcometoebsspace.blogspot.com

I am so happy Ebony agreed to be part of our team her boy layouts are slightly grungy and bright and her contribution to the blog will be very inspiring…if you would like see what sort of layouts you have to look forward to pop over to her  BLOG

we welcome to the team…

DebbieLawrence (2) Hi everyone, I am sooooo excited to be here.  My name is Debbie Lawrence and I have been married to my wonderful husband Ashley for almost twenty years.  We have two sometimes wonderful children - Megan and Blake, who are of course my main scrapping inspiration.  We live in beautiful Bayside Brissie, the best place in the world.
I was introduced to scrapping in 2004 when my daughter started preschool.  I don't really have a style, I tend to just go with the flow, though I find I just cannot do white space.  My pages tend to look unfinished unless I have filled them with lots of different patterned papers and lots of little embellishments.  And I also rarely use cardstock, but I do love a bit of Kraft.  However I would say my style involves clean lines, and I also love a good sketch.   I have a great scrap space in our office, so I can scrap whenever I get the bug and leave everything out until I am finished.
The main reason I scrap is for the "me" time.  I love the process of constructing a layout, the shopping, the wonderful friendships I have formed and the pages I create.  I love that I am leaving such lovely memories for my children to look back on.
You will find me at http://debbielawrence.blogspot.com/
Kellie met Debbie at the Brisbane Expo recently and thought she would be a perfect fit for our team…so I am thrilled that on contacting Debbie she has agreed to inspire us with her beautiful work… if you are curious about what sort of layout she has install for us pop over to her BLOG

back to inspire

wendysmith6x4 Cheers everyone. I am Wendy Smith, and I live in Tasmania with my husband Duncan, my 2 boys Charlie(5y) and Angus (4y), our 2 dogs Barkley and Max, and our cat Jazz. I have been scrapping since 2004, and just love this craft as it enables me to release creative energy, as well as preserve precious memories for years to come. I have always been a crafty kind a girl, and since finding scrapping I cant picture myself doing anything else.

I would describe the kind of scrapbooking I do as masculine, bright, layered, and clustered. I love using everyday photos as these are the moments and events that I like to capture and remember. I love trying out new techniques and products, and get very excited when the postie van arrives…LOL

I am thrilled to have Wends back on the team…You may or may not know that this girl has a special place in my life as Wendy and I are sisters and I just had to have her on my team (or she would have whinged… no really…lol) I love her boy pages they are super bright and fabulously embellished check what she has up her sleeve for us in the coming months pop over to her blog for some fabulous inspiration… MY HEAD SPACE

joining the team…

kim arnold6x4aKim Arnold… I am married to my wonderful husband Gary and we have one son, Benson. We live in the northern beaches of Wollongong in Australia – I think one of the most beautiful places on earth. I discovered scrapbooking when I was pregnant with Benson and haven’t looked back since.

Scrapbooking to me is a wonderful combination of storytelling, beautiful photos and creativity. I am fortunate that both my husband and I have a keen interest in photography so there is never a shortage of photos to scrap. I think the story that accompanies the photos is so important and I love to use handwritten journaling to record these stories. I also love to use layers on my layouts, whether that is with paper, inks, transparencies or embellishments, I think that layers add so much interest to a layout.

As a way to record my stories for when I have time to scrapbook them, I started blogging. I love this means of sharing stories and ideas with family and friends as well as keeping memories to inspire future layouts. My blog is www.kimarnold.typepad.com.

I am a 2009 Scrapbooking Memories Master and currently serve on design teams for American Crafts, Jillibean Soup, GCD Studios, Inspired Blueprints and Storyboard Kits. I am so excited about participating in Scrap the Boys!

I am really happy that Kim has agreed to share her inspiring work with us on Scrap the Boys as I love her clean approach to scrapbooking. If you are interested in the type of work she will be sharing with us over the coming months be sure to check out her BLOG

inspiring you soon …

louise nelson6x4
Hello Hello :) My name is Louise Nelson and I reside in Adelaide, South Australia.
I’ve been scrapbooking for nearly 5 years now, and I get more passionate about this arty craft every year!! LOL. I started out as 12 x 12 scrapper, using mainly white Bazzill, but now I'm more 'into' scrapping in either 8.5 x 11 or A4, and I’m loven my Kraft cardstock. My style STS, has changed and evolved somewhat, and you could probably call it freestyle to some extent, and maybe a little 'arty'. I must confess, I do something scrap related almost every day; oh and I am a seriously avid blog lurker, and keen 'challenge/sketch' scrapper.
I would like to welcome Louise to the team as she has been one of my favourite scrappers for some time now… I wish I was able to do what she does with paper and stash… If you would like to check out her work in anticipation of what she has is stall for us in the coming months her blog is here…. AN UNINTERRUPTED VIEW
I will be introducing more of our inspiring team over the coming days so pop back or follow us so you don’t miss a thing….we are also on facebook.

No Girls Allowed

No seriously...how does this blog work? So as you can tell there have been a few changes to scrap the boys ...we are now a challenge blog offering prizes donated by our generous sponsors every month. All you need to do to enter is send us a layout that you have created using the month’s criteria specifically and exclusively for the blog challenge.

The challenges are going to be boy orientated and may stretch your preconceptions of what is "done" on a boy layout some months. The only stipulation we have is that the layout has to be about "boys". It is acceptable for you to appear in the photo with your boys as they wouldn't be here if it weren't for their mothers...isnt that right...and we love to scrap us and our boys!!!

Once you have created the layout you upload it to your blog or online gallery and leave a link here back to using the link widget. Then simply leave us a comment on the challenge thread and we will pop over and check out your amazing work.

At this stage ...all prizes are generously donated by Australian online stores and therefore eligable entires are only accepted from within Australia....but please feel free to play along for fun if you are internationally based (we are hoping to have international prizes soon)...just be sure to pop your country next to your name on the link... ie. Susan Longman - AUS.

Every month there will be 2 challenges... one each fortnight... challenges will be loaded on the 1st and 15th of the month. All challenges will be due at the end of the month to be eligable for the prizes...

We will also be offering "Boy" swaps every month (these are strictly for Australian participants in order accommodate postage) ...swaps will open for sign up on the 5th of every month and be due by the end of the month...more details will be available monthly on the post.
